Scabies Still Getting Bumps

Boyou Jean Noël (winner Clap Ivoire 2010):" The cinema has a bright future in Cote d'Ivoire "

The 10th edition of Clap Ivoire competition for young filmmakers in West Africa has seen the coronation of Jean-Noel Boyou (Ivory Coast). Still in the spotlight, the follower of the 7th art confided to your daily routine. He talks about the film contest and its current projects.

Who are you and when did you start the job of a filmmaker?

I'm
Boyou Jean Noel, director of the documentary film''''Lobikher. I started the film as a cameraman in a production house, NetTV. Then I became interested in art director. I have not trained for this job. I trained on the job. From people like Mr. Bro Luke trainer in the profession of broadcasting. Since I already took my first steps in the area, I realized I could make a movie and enter a contest to discover young directors. I wanted to leave traces of what I learned since.

What is the film about?

Lobikher''means''women Lobi Lobi language. Through this achievement, we show women who are actively working for the socio-economic development of their society. They are the basis for food production such as''soumbara''(spice from northern Côte d'Ivoire), shea butter and tchapolo (drink made from sorghum or millet). Our goal was to show the bravery and courage of these women. The choice of this angle has worked in our favor. And the jury has confessed.

What did you have the technical means for the filming of this documentary film?

We were assisted by the production company NetTV. It was she who gave us the equipment. We thank those responsible for this structure because it is difficult to get into film production in the tropics without our financial and technical resources. Also, given the conditions in which we have done our learning, it was evident that it happens.

Did you encounter any difficulties during filming?

The filming went well. Catch view took place in Flaquedougou, 70 km from Bondoukou. We went with the President of the Association of Women Lobi. Our arrival had been announced days before. All women have at our disposal. They adopted us and helped in the filming. They played good game

How did you feel before the announcement of results?

Frankly, we do not expect to receive the first prize. It was for us to present our production is the first of its kind. From the comments, see our shortcomings and improve future productions. We can only thank lord. Thanks to him we had this success.

Did you think Clap Ivoire was the appropriate forum?

As a platform for young filmmakers space EMU West Africa (UEMOA), the contest is most appropriate. It allows us to know, to learn from predecessors. Clap Ivoire is also a meeting place for young lovers of the 7th art. Our real motivation came from the possibility that we benefit from a scholarship to train us in Europe in the world of cinema.

I always wrote scripts and I continue to write. My goal is to highlight certain realities of the Ivorian society to attract people's attention on it. But also seek solutions to the authorities and public awareness.

An example?

I am currently working on the exploitation of the Ivory Coast lagoons. I discovered the existence of night fishing. People who are waiting for nightfall to engage in this activity. The questions I raised are: why do they? How can they do this? Also, would I allow this activity to know and, if possible, bring people to develop.

How do you see the future of cinema Ivorian?

There is a bright future for the 7th art in Côte d'Ivoire, especially financially. What our predecessors have done, is beneficial. We must work harder and with seriousness. But you always learn. In the field, it never finishes it. Therefore, avoid discouragement. We must be imaginative. With limited resources, we can make shootings films-documentaries. If we can produce short films, exploitation of these can afford to buy major equipment.
